EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:

  • May 2003 – Present: Center 4 Massage Therapy – Massage Therapist

MODALITIES:

  • Basic Reflexologymassage based around a system of points in the hands and feet thought to correspond, or "reflex," to all areas of the body.

  • Cayce Reilly MassotherapyFundamental techniques of a relaxation massage with emphasis on the Cayce/Reilly variations of the Swedish method. The history of massage, contraindications to massage, benefits and physiology of massage, the use of oils, and draping techniques are also presented.

  • Clinical/Therapeutic Massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress; and, to promote health and wellness.

  • Deep (Hot) Stone Therapyutilizing heated stones to soften tight muscles, trigger points, and soothe chronic muscle pain while lessening discomfort during therapy.  Also used with Swedish relaxation massage to de-stress and relax with the added warmth from smooth stones being pressed against the skin.

  • Deep Tissue Massagedirected specifically to individual muscle fibers. Its purpose is to un-stick the fibers of a muscle while releasing deeply-held patterns of tension, removing toxins, relaxing, soothing and thereby re-educating, as well as encouraging the muscle to operate at full capacity. It is both corrective and therapeutic.

  • Fibromyalgia Massage - A custom tailored massage based solely on the very unique needs of the fibromyalgia client. The therapist understands what works for one client, may not work for another. Special oils are used to help with the pain associated with fibromyalgia. Results are recorded and used in later sessions to help tailor this massage till it's the best it can be for that individual.

  • Muscle Release Technique SM (MRT) is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With MRT scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.

  • Myoskeletal Alignment Technique identifies and corrects chronic strain patterns before they become pain patterns, systematic realigning of neck and back structures.

  • Pregnancy Massage Acquire special skills in working from preconception massage through pregnancy and labor to post partum massage. Contraindications, proper positioning, and specific routine are covered.

  • Swedish Relaxation Massagea system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.

  • Trigger Point Therapy applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain.
